Although it’s been quite some time since our last update, we have made tremendous progress. The Mr. Frizzle and Mountain Road Ramblers show was so much fun, and we had a great turn out. Last Saturday we had our second Open Mic night. The amount of talent in this city/school is amazing! I think everyone had a good time. ( Thanks Chaibo for catering :D )

Cornerstone is no more, but we are still working with Sally Cragin. She has a few upcoming kid’s events going on at the end of February.

The Fitchburg Artistree gallery/venue space/etc. will be in large room on the first floor. The studio spaces will be upstairs, run by Ryan Gardell. Contact him if you’d like to use the space or if you have any other questions about the studio! We will be starting renovations this week. Thank you to Jerry Beck for the track lighting! It is greatly appreciated. :)

We are working with WXPL for the open mics and other shows as well. They’ve been great with the advertising and catering.

We plan to have several workshops through each week. This way, people will have somewhere to hang out off campus and actually have something to do that interests them. We’re thinking about a couple “open jam” sessions, some DIY “trash to treasure” workshops, crafts for kids, group collaboration projects, as well as themed exhibits and interactive exhibits. We want people to feel apart of what we are trying to accomplish, because we believe that we all really just want the same things out of Fitchburg and our time here. Students leave on the weekends because there’s nothing to do here, and in turn the school clubs and organizations usually don’t plan much for the weekends because its a common thing for students to leave for the majority of the weekend. There’s nothing to do here because Main St. has 18 vacant storefronts within a 2 mile stretch. No one goes downtown because the perception that Main St. and the entirety of Fitchburg itself is “sketchy” overpowers the perception of its extreme potential.

All we really want is to change these perceptions by revitalizing Main St. to the way it once was and giving students an abundance of options of things to do and places to go hang out downtown.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. <3
